JOHN ELLIS "JACK" SCHAEFER, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 6, 2016, age 81. He is survived by his wife Barbara, 4 children: John (Elaine), Peter (Kathleen), Lyell McMerty (Brian), Margaret Langfitt (David) and 15 grandchildren.

Born in Phila. he was the son of the late George Ellis and Grace Schaefer and a brother of the late Peter J. Schaefer. He graduated from Lower Merion H.S. in 1952 and from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1956. Above all else, he was devoted to his family. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday March 10th, 10 A.M. St. Mary Episcopal Church, 104 Louella Ave., Wayne, PA 19087. Interment will be private. Memorial donations may be made to Penn Medicine Melanoma Fund, c/o Abramson Cancer Center, 3535 Mark St., Suite 750, Phila., PA 19104 or St. Mary Episcopal Church.
