Ross Cook went to
be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, 18 July 2008, in
Stockbridge, GA. His cause of death was an intracranial hemorrhage preceded by
a heart attack. He was 74 years old. Ross was born in Knox County, IN, on 21 July
1933 to the late Emmett Earl Cook of Monroe City, IN, and Virginia Brown Cook
of Elwood, NE.
He graduated from
the U.S. Naval Academy with the Class of 1956 as a member of the Eighth
Company. He married the former Patricia Falkenbury of Glens Falls, NY, on 13
July 1957. Ross served his country in the Navy on BENNINGTON and COGSWELL.
After separating
from the Navy, he worked as an engineer in several companies. Not long after
moving to Jonesboro, GA, he worked for Worldwide Discipleship Association, a
college/university campus ministry, as a business manager and next as business
administrator in the administrative offices of the Presbyterian Church in
America until his retirement in 1998. of Covenant Presbyterian Church in
Fayetteville, GA, where he taught adult Sunday School, served several terms as
an elder and was involved in various
ministries. He also gave back to his community in many ways, including
serving on the Henry County (Georgia) Development Authority from 2004 until his
death.
He is survived by
his wife of 51 years, Patricia; two daughters, Christine Cook of Union City,
GA, and Cynthia Cook Becraft of Newport News, VA; one grandson, Sean Becraft;
two granddaughters, Heather and Erin Becraft; one older brother, C. Dale Cook
of Union City, IN; three sisters-in-law; two nieces; four nephews; and several
grandnieces and grandnephews. A memorial service was held on Saturday, 2 August
2008 at Covenant Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Fayetteville, GA. After being a
tissue donor, Ross’ body was cremated. His ashes will be interred at a later
date in Glens Falls, NY. The Cook Family
