Norm Burgk hailed from Oakland, and had a year at the University of California and eighteen months in the Navy under his belt when he entered the Academy.  He chose Air Force upon graduation. 

Norm’s death certificate indicates that he served on active duty until 1959, and then worked for the US Government.  At the time of death on 17 October 1987, he was living in Pleasanton, CA, and was never married.
